And Your Heart Will Fly Away

Original Airdate: 25 Nov, 2002

She wounds you
as a rose will wound you --
Not with her thorn.

A rose will always wound you
with her beauty.

Harry Martinson, CY 6862

[Command]

HARPER [on viewscreen]: Finished! Done. The new slipfighter's working like a charm. I only need twenty more minutes.
HUNT: Yeah, you said that twenty minutes ago.
HARPER [on viewscreen]: Right, right, but that was before I knew I really only needed twenty more minutes.
HUNT: Ah ha? Mister Harper, bring it in.
HARPER [on viewscreen]: But boss, this debris field, it's a once in a galaxy opportunity to test the navigation sensors.
HUNT: Mister Harper, bring it in.
HARPER [on viewscreen]: All right, but we'll never know whether or not my new slipfighter can dodge all that space garbage.
HUNT: Yeah.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: I'm detecting an unacceptably high rad temperature inside my ramscoop.
HUNT: More power to the rad shields, please.
(Whoosh sound.)
BEKA: Er, too late.
(A blue cloud enters Command through the ceiling and coalesces into a white armoured stormtrooper brandishing a katana.)
GENITE: Captain Dylan Hunt.
HUNT: Beka! Look out!
(Beka gets knocked down. The Genite deflects Hunt's shots with his sword while Beka scrambles for her gauss pistol. Then Hunt turns his forcelance into a quarterstaff and continues the fight. He gets disarmed, but manages to take the katana off the Genite and cuts him in half. He turns back into blue bits that fall to the floor.)
HUNT: You know, you could have helped out.
BEKA: You were doing pretty good.
HUNT: Thanks.
BEKA: What the hell was that?
HUNT: I really have no idea, and I don't want to find out.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: My ramscoop must have captured a microsatellite along with the usual space debris.
HUNT: Andromeda, get us out of here.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Captain, a slipfighter has launched.
HARPER [on viewscreen]: : Tyr just took off with my brand new slipfighter!
HUNT; What? Tyr, you picked a bad day for a joyride.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: He's gone to radio silence.
HUNT: Oh, great. Let's go get him.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Searching. I'm picking up eight departing slipfighters every forty five degrees on horizon level.
HUNT: Eight?
BEKA: Eight?
HARPER [on viewscreen]: The slipfighter's equipped with new splinter imaging technology. Multiple disguised footprints. Sorry. Surprise!
HUNT: I'm surprised.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Prior to his departure, Tyr was in his quarters. He had engaged privacy mode.
HUNT: Great. Andromeda, override privacy mode. I want to know what Tyr was doing.
BEKA: Hold on. You can just override privacy mode just like that?
HUNT: Yeah. Andromeda's a warship. We can't afford secrets.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Tyr was viewing a hologram transmission delivered by the same microsat that delivered your Genite.
HUNT: Well, play it.
(It is a woman on a windswept rocky planet.)
DESIREE [on viewscreen]: Our feet will tread these rocks. Our hands will work this ice.
HUNT: Oh, my.

[Machine shop]

(Harper is studying the blue bits.)
HOLO-ROMMIE: I found no trace of the eight slipfighters or of Tyr.
HUNT: Keep looking for anything.
HOLO=ROMMIE: The spheres are the remains of an Eidolon.
BEKA: Eidolon?
HARPER: It's a highly complex and very cool structure made of dark matter particles. These things working together can simulate almost any image of almost any size.
HUNT: It hit pretty hard for a simulant.
HOLO-ROMMIE: That's because it can also simulate mass.
BEKA: Dark matter, huh?
HARPER: Yeah. I tried fiddling around with it when I was a kid using science kits, but with no luck.
BEKA: Andromeda, how did you let this stuff get on board?
HOLO-ROMMIE: Display. There are thousands of vents on this ship. Screened, of course, but something that splits into particles the size of a molecule can pass through.
HARPER: Then reassemble themselves later.
HOLO-ROMMIE: The bad news is, my database comes up empty on the composition of this.
BEKA: So, we don't know where it came from.
HUNT: Or where Tyr flew off to.
HOLO-ROMMIE: But we do have the message from the mystery woman. I've run a spectral analysis on the scattered sunlight and geological features. There are a finite number of planets with rocky surfaces and a breathable atmosphere orbiting what appears to be a class B blue dwarf.
HUNT: Define finite.
HOLO-ROMMIE: Approximately forty three million planets.
HUNT: Any planets with ties to Nietzscheans?
HOLO-ROMMIE: Fifty one thousand eight hundred and nine, so far. I have no one hundred percent match, but I do have an eighty percent match in the Melita system.
HUNT: Andromeda, book us a flight.
HOLO-ROMMIE: Charting now.

[Corridor]

BEKA: What if Tyr doesn't want to be found? He's taken off before.
HUNT: Yeah. It just doesn't feel that way.
BEKA: Right. The Genite warrior, he addressed you. Whoever's signaling Tyr is trying to get a message to you too.
HUNT: That's what I'm worried about. Finding Tyr looks like a trap for the Andromeda.
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Captain, code blue. Report to Command.

[Command]

HUNT: Andromeda, what's up?
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: On screen.
(It looks just like Dylan Hunt, floating in space.)
BEKA: Wow.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Object at a distance of twelve kilometres and closing.
HUNT: Dimensions.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Seven hundred metres in length, one hundred and fifty wide, and seventy five metres deep. Human proportions.
BEKA: You're so big. Or he is.
HUNT: Move to intercept.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Spectral analysis incoming. It's an Eidolon.
(And it is raising its forcelance. It fires.)
HUNT: Activate defence systems.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Manoeuvring.
HUNT: Prepare to fire on me.
BEKA: Firing.
(The Eidolon breaks into its constituent parts.)
BEKA: You know, someone is going to great and obvious lengths to make a point.
HUNT: Oh, I get the point. And I get the message. Someone wants us to go in a different direction.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: By diverting to intercept the Eidolon, we have changed course. Currently, we are headed away from the Melita system and toward a place called Elba Nine.
BEKA: Someone or something telling us to go there.
HUNT: Tell you what, let's go to Elba Nine.
BEKA: Cool.
(Meanwhile, Tyr is using a meteorite storm to mask his approach to an icy, rocky world, where he lands.)
HUNT: Searching for Elba Nine. Andromeda, data's still dropping out. We've got bugs in the system.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: I am unable to contain all of the billions of Eidolon particles that made up the Genite and the microsat. They have infected my guidance system, which is why all data is suspect.
HOLO-ROMMIE: I have a virus.
BEKA: Who is doing this?
NAZ [on viewscreen]: That would be me.
BEKA: Is this another Eidolon?
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: No. In fact
(The man enters Command on a hoverchair.)
NAZ: My name is Naz. Bartolome Naz.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: A small ship docked during our fight with the giant Eidolon. It was undetected.
NAZ: Because of the infection I introduced to your system. A childishly simple design, but surprisingly effective. Captain Hunt, you need to update your defence systems.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Shall I remove him from the deck?
NAZ: I don't think you want to do that. I know where Tyr Anasazi has gone, and I know why.
HUNT: I'm listening.

[Planet surface]

(Tyr is fighting another Genite warrior in the snow. They end up throwing rocks at each other until Desiree blasts it to its constituent parts.)
DESIREE: Tyr Anasazi. After all this time.
(Then she slaps him hard and runs away. Tyr follows her.)

[Command]

ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Checking all available databases for Bartolome Naz. All I see is a Bartolome Naz who was a forward striker for the Talos Two springball team. He led the Talons in assists for two seasons in a row. He's corrupted the database.
HUNT: Oh yeah.
NAZ: Allow me an explanation. I design weapons, everything from molecular machines like the Eidolon particles, right up to things like your floating image.
HUNT: Tell me where my crewmember is.
NAZ: Permit me to show you something.
(A hologram of a woman.)
NAZ: Desiree d'Lene, The most beautiful woman in the galaxy. She was brilliant, she was witty, she was sensuous, she was the love of my life, until she wasn't. She grew tired of me.
HUNT: We all have broken heart stories. Why don't you get to the point?
NAZ: When I lost Desiree, I lost all self-control. My defences crumbled. I raged. If I couldn't have Desiree, then no one would. So, I hired someone to kill her. But it didn't turn out that way.
BEKA: Yeah, I guess that'd be my first choice if I was getting dumped. Hire a Nietzschean hit man.
NAZ: For several years I believed that Tyr had accomplished his mission, that Desiree was indeed dead. I mourned seriously. A broken heart. And then, I discovered this strange message.
DESIREE [hologram]: Our feet will tread these rocks. Our hands will work this ice.
NAZ: I conducted my own fruitless search, then realised there was one man who knew where she was.
BEKA: Tyr.
NAZ: Tyr. He was supposed to kill her. Instead, hid her, apparently on the prison planet Elba Nine. Now, anyone can get onto this planet, but just try to get off. That's when the surprises start. Surprises I designed. Successful escape is theoretically impossible.
BEKA: What are you doing here?
NAZ: I want to get Desiree back and you want to get Tyr back. The Andromeda's the only thing that would give us chance of accomplishing that, so I sent your image, Captain, drifting in space, and you followed.
HUNT: You know, it's funny. I wasn't aware that we were for hire or at your disposal, Mister Naz.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: We are approaching Elba Nine's southern hemisphere. I'm detecting an anomaly in orbit.
HUNT: Watch him.
BEKA: Apparently, a manoeuvrable one. It's intercepting us.
NAZ: One of my surprises.
HUNT: Magnify.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Five kilometres in diameter across its longitudinal axis. Three to four kilometres latitudinally. It's a weapons platform. It's firing.
(Bang.)
HUNT: Andromeda, reroute. Activate point defence systems. Let's zig zag. I don't want to give this thing an easy target.
BEKA: Is this another one of your Eidolons?
NAZ: It's an Attrox. It's an automated sentry. An asteroid modified to serve as a fortress moon.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: There are no records of an Attrox actually being built.
NAZ: This one was. By me.
HUNT: Then you must know how to beat it.
NAZ: Unfortunately, it can't be beaten, but I'm betting that you can handle it.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: It's firing.
(Bangs, shakes, alarms.)
HUNT: All right, let's see if we can make this thing chase us. Beka, take us to slipstream. That should do some damage.
BEKA: Aye, aye.

[Planet surface]

TYR: Medea, wait.
DESIREE: Don't ever call me that.
TYR: It's your name.
DESIREE: What are you doing here, finishing the job?
TYR: Don't be ridiculous. I haven't seen Bartolome in years.
DESIREE: Our feet will tread these rocks. Our hands will work this ice.
TYR: Our eyes will search the night and
DESIREE: You loved me, Tyr, then you left.
TYR: And you know I had no choice.
DESIREE: What choice did I have?
TYR: I left you in the one place Bartolome wouldn't look!

[House]

DESIREE: Hidden from everyone! Why, Tyr? Why?
TYR: You know why! You're still perfect. All your strength and fire still greets me there in your eyes. Your smell, the magnificent beat of your heart. You're perfect, Medea.
DESIREE: It is my curse.
(They kiss, then she has to struggle to get him to let her go.)
DESIREE: Your your boneblades.
TYR: Or lack thereof?
DESIREE: All that mocking you did. You're just like me.
TYR: No. No, I'm not like you.

[Command]

(Andromeda comes out of slipstream.)
BEKA: We lost it. But you know, for a while there, I had this weird feeling that I was being followed.
(Alarm.)
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: The Attrox is following us. Incoming.
HUNT: Beka, evasive manoeuvres.
NAZ: You're surprised that the Attrox can navigate slipstream? Well, it has a brain, human emotions. Mine.
HUNT: That's impossible.
NAZ: At the end of the day, slipstream navigation is based on the will to live. Look at the Attrox and understand me.
HUNT: I've never been chased by a fortress moon before. I'm not going to like it.
BEKA: Now what?
HUNT: We can't beat it, we can't outrun it, but we can hide from it. Beka, get us as close to Elba Nine as you can.
BEKA: We can put Andromeda in a tight circular orbit below the Attrox and out of its range.
HUNT: For a while. it'll give us time to launch the Maru and find Tyr.
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Orbit confirmed.
HUNT; Good. Beka, grab Harper. Go get Tyr.
(Beka leaves.)
NAZ: You won't have much time. Three hours would be my estimation.
HUNT: I'm well aware of that, Mister Naz. After that, there won't be an Andromeda to come back to.

[Command]

(Deleted scene 23, wherever it is supposed to fit.)
ROMMIE: This manoeuvre will result in destruction in one hour twenty minutes.
NAZ: So short? Why do you assume that?
ROMMIE: I'm not programmed to be an optimist. May I ask you a question?
NAZ: Yes.
ROMMIE: What medical condition keeps you in that chair?
NAZ: I believe it's called myasthenia gravis, a genetic muscular weakness. I was born with it.
ROMMIE: Medical technology can cure genetic disorders.
NAZ: Yes. And to spare you the next question, I remain in this chair by choice. It keeps be from being anything like you.
ROMMIE: Nobody's like me. But even without the heart, I know when to let go.

[Eureka Maru]

(Skimming the planet surface.)
HARPER: Sheesh, hold your cookies.
BEKA: Hang on.
HARPER: Elba Nine's got one hell of a jet stream. High winds, radiation. I think we're flying over a whole range of active volcanoes.
BEKA: Something tells me this is the easy stuff.

[House]

(Post coitus by the looks of them.)
DESIREE: Each morning I'd wake in hope, only to live each day in that fear.
TYR: You've kept everything just the same.
DESIREE: Is that what you think? What about Bartolome?
TYR: What about him? I haven't seen or heard from him in years. Your message is what brought me. You, standing there outside the house.
DESIREE: Yes, I sent you a message a year ago when I scrounged communication gear from a crashed freighter. But everything changed in that year. I changed. I survived, I prospered.
TYR: I didn't expect to show up and find you dead, Medea. And you knew I would come back.
DESIREE: That was my only fear.
Beep beep beep.)
TYR: What is that?
DESIREE: My alarm system. Visitors. There's two of them.

[Planet surface]

TYR: Who else would live in this wasteland?
DESIREE: No one. Naz made sure of that. Whoever they are, they followed you. If there are two, we should split up.
HARPER: Man, I can't imagine being dumped here and surviving.
BEKA: Really? I always figured I'd retire to a place like this.
HARPER: Oh yeah? Sure, radiation, snowstorms, the decimation of pretty much all life, Yeah, it'd be perfect for you.
(Beka spots the house on its cliffside, with smoke coming out of the chimney.)
BEKA: There it is. I'm going to go straight. You go around the back. Just give me a couple of seconds lead.
HARPER: Hey, she's supposed to be desirable, not deadly. Not that there's necessarily a difference.
(Desiree shoots at Harper, then Tyr comes up behind him.)
HARPER: Tyr! Was that you? Did you just shoot at me?
TYR: You'll never know.
(Beka comes up behind Desiree.)
BEKA: Hold it! Miss d'Lene, I presume.
TYR: Beka!
(Tyr gestures for Beka to lower her weapon, so she does.)

[House]

TYR: This is practically impossible. I didn't leave a trail, and Elba Nine isn't the sort of place you just find.
HARPER: We had help from an old friend of yours. Bartolome Naz?
DESIREE: Bartolome? Tyr.
TYR: Where is he?
BEKA: Aboard the Andromeda right now.
HARPER: But don't worry, he's under control.
DESIREE: Wishful thinking.
TYR: Did Naz inform you of my original mission?
BEKA: Yes. Kill her.
TYR: And still you brought him here?
BEKA: We thought we were rescuing you.
TYR: Did I ask for your help?
HARPER: Hey, I was against it.
(Tyr and Desiree whisper together.)
BEKA: And now it gets complicated.
HARPER: Hmm?
BEKA: Look at him. He actually cares what she thinks.
HARPER: Oh, yeah. You ever seen Tyr like that before?
BEKA: Yeah. They're not enemies. They're lovers.

[Command]

BEKA [on viewscreen]: We found them, so now what?
HUNT: Report on Tyr's condition.
HARPER [on viewscreen]: He's in love. Again.
BEKA [on viewscreen]: He's with Desiree.
HUNT: Er, bring them up. We're running out of time.

[Conduit]

(Naz is doing something sneaky.)
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Dylan, I've completed the analysis of Naz's medical condition. It's myasthenia gravis. It's easily treatable. He chooses not to walk.
HUNT [OC]: Ah. That feeds his hatred.
(Naz completes what he is making.)
NAZ: It will be good to see you again, Tyr Anasazi.

[Hangar bay]

TRANCE: How was your trip to Elba Nine?
BEKA: Stupid.
HARPER: Brr. Not on my list of vacation spots. We saw one good thing. We met the local. I missed you, however.
TYR: This is the Andromeda. It's nothing like you're used to, I'm sure. Listen, I've been meaning to tell you that
(Naz takes aim with his gizmo and fires, but misses. Tyr returns fire after pushing Desiree to safety. Then Naz comes out of hiding, spots Desiree and Tyr shoots the gizmo out of his hand.)
TYR: You're as impetuous as I remember.
NAZ: You owe me a death.
TYR: Suppose I let you live and we call it even?
NAZ: Why don't you just shoot?
(Tyr hesitates, and Naz's gizmo flies back into his hand.)
BEKA: Drop it.
TYR: Now, she'll shoot you.
(Beka takes the gizmo.)
HUNT [OC]: Mister Harper, accompany Mister Naz to the brig. Tyr, take Desiree to her quarters, please.
NAZ: Desiree.
(She walks off, and Tyr follows.)
HARPER: All right, move it. They're not acting like lovers now.
BEKA: I think they're acting just like lovers.

[Corridor]

TYR: Medea!
DESIREE: Desiree.
TYR: Believe me, I had no idea Naz was within three galaxies of here.
DESIREE: We all do things in this life to survive. Things for money. And I always knew you were a mercenary, but I never thought you'd stoop so low as to pick up this payment.
TYR: Are you out of your mind?
DESIREE: You had me, Tyr. I was yours.
TYR: Why are you running from me?
DESIREE: Why are you pursuing? Do you think we would pick up where we'd left off?
TYR: Yes.
DESIREE: It's too late, Tyr. Untested love is ultimately worthless.
TYR: Untested? Medea, I am here. I came for you. There are your quarters.
(Desiree walks into them.)
TYR: My love was tested!

[Command]

HUNT: Andromeda, put up a spatial graphics of the Attrox's primary weapons, please.
HARPER: Well, Naz is on ice and Trance is keeping him company, so he can't pull any more of those fancy tricks out of his magic chair.
BEKA: Which raises the next question. What are we going to do with Desiree?
HARPER: I've got a few ideas.
BEKA: And Naz, for that matter.
HUNT: Well, Naz can be packed into his ship and sent home, but I don't think Desiree wants to go along.
BEKA: Right now, she doesn't exactly want to stay with Tyr, either.
HARPER: More of your lover's intuition?
BEKA: What's that supposed to mean?
HUNT: It's not a decision we have to make this moment. First, we've got to deal with the Attrox. Rommie, how much time before target lock?
ROMMIE: Eighty five minutes.
HARPER: Eighty five minutes? Huh. Eighty five minutes to solve a problem even the greatest military minds of an entire era couldn't solve. Piece of cake. We're dead.
HUNT: Let's hope not.
((Tyr stands beside Beka's station.)
BEKA: I thought you once told me that you could never be with a human woman. Never, ever in a million years?
TYR: I did say that once, to you.
HUNT: That's it. The Eidolons. We could synthesise and program them ourselves.
HARPER: Make our own Eidolon.
TYR: Bartolome could do it.
HARPER: Yeah, if you trust him to help.
HUNT: I trust him to want to live. Mister Anasazi.

[Observation deck]

TYR: You're needed.
NAZ: I'm aware. I heard everything. The question is, why should I help?
TYR: If you heard the captain, you know why. Because you want to live.
NAZ: You're making a big assumption. I've made fortunes and lost them, given and taken life, and I'm still alone.
TYR: I'm sorry. Now, are you going to assist us or not?
NAZ: You've always resented me. You, who are merely a failed killing machine.
TYR: What do you want?
NAZ: From you, an explanation. Why didn't you kill Desiree, and how could you abandon her on Elba Nine?
TYR: Yes or no?

[Corridor]

(Desiree walks up behind Beka.)
BEKA: It'd probably be safer for you to stay in your quarters.
DESIREE: It would have been safer for me on the planet, but you eliminated that option.
BEKA: Yeah, well, we'll stick you back there soon enough, as soon as we untangled your history with Naz and Tyr and anyone else who loves you and is trying to kill you.
DESIREE: Oh, it is my curse, to be all things to all men.
BEKA: My heart's breaking.
DESIREE: Bartolome. I was troubled when I met him. In need. He changed my life, and I mistook gratitude for love. And that feeling quickly turned to hate. And then there's Tyr. The very exciting Tyr Anasazi, my saviour. Two relationships, two failures.
BEKA: Yeah, well, we've all had those kind of failures. No woman can be all things to all men.
(Desiree laughs and walks away.)
BEKA: No human woman.

[Command]

HUNT: I need a timing on acquiring the Attrox.
ROMMIE: Or vice versa. Fourteen minutes.
TYR: We're ready.
NAZ: The slipfighter is painted.
(Bang.)
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: A ranging shot from the Attrox. It knows we're coming.
HUNT: Mister Harper, we are on the clock.

[Hangar bay]

HARPER: I'm shaking it, boss.
(Tyr and Naz arrive.)
HARPER: Hey! I've got to say this for your stuff, Naz. It goes on smooth. And, this is going to be one of my greatest works so far.
TYR: All right, we'll fly this thing by remote, yes?
(Desiree steps out of concealment with a weapon.)
NAZ: Desiree.
BEKA: Look out, she's an Eidolon!
(Beka shoots Desiree.)
HARPER: Maybe not.
BEKA: Blood.

[Medical deck]

(Tyr carries Desiree in.)
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Five minutes.
NAZ: We have to get her stabilised. She has to live.
TRANCE: That will probably be left to a higher source than you.
(Tyr whispers to Trance.)
TRANCE: That'll makes the odds much better.
(Bang.)
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Four minutes.
HUNT [OC]: Beka, Tyr, to Command.
(Beka and Tyr run out.)
TRANCE: If you could get out of that chair, could you also let her go?
NAZ: The one has nothing to do with the other.
TRANCE: I suppose you should know.

[Command]

ROMMIE: Two minutes until target lock.
(Tyr and Beka run in.)
BEKA: I never thought I'd see an ugly moonrise.
HUNT: Mister Harper, launch the slipfighter when Tyr is ready.
HARPER: She's away.
(Multiple impacts on Andromeda.)
HUNT: Let's try to keep from being hit, okay?
ANDROMEDA [OC]: It's tracking every movement.
TYR: It's also ignoring the slipfighter.
HUNT: Good. I want the slipfighter to get behind the Attrox. Get it in closer. Give the Attrox a bigger target.
BEKA: It's bracketing us.
HUNT: A few more moments. A little more time.
TYR: I'm clear.
HUNT: Mister Harper.
HARPER: Please work.
(The slipfighter transforms into a Magog warship.)
BEKA: I love my Seamus.
HUNT: Tyr, you may fire when ready.
(Multiple fireballs on the Attrox.)
HUNT: All right, now it's our turn.
BEKA: Full reverse power?
HUNT: No. Get in that thing's wake. We're not running, we're taking it out.
TYR: All right, it's got the slipfighter in its sights.
HUNT: Harper, showtime.
HARPER: My pleasure.
(An explosion blanks the viewscreen.)
HUNT: It's blinded. Hit that thing with everything we've got.
(They do. Eventually the Andromeda stops shaking and the alarms go quiet.)
ROMMIE: We have destroyed the Attrox.
HUNT: Good work, people. Good work.

[Medical deck]

(Tyr is with Desiree when Hunt enters. Naz is a little way away. Tyr goes to leave as Trance sees to Desiree.)
HUNT: You're leaving with her.
TYR: I don't know.
(Tyr leaves.)
HUNT: You've spent your entire life trying to control everything and everybody. You're going to let her go, Naz.
NAZ: Looking at her lying there, for the first time I wanted to design something that would save a life.
HUNT: Here's your chance to do just that.
(Hunt goes over to Desiree.)
HUNT: I'm glad to see you're back with us.
DESIREE: Captain, I want to thank you.
HUNT: That's er, that's not necessary.
DESIREE: Maybe it's five years on Elba Nine showing, not saying anything to anyone, but it was an environment that cultivated me to be realistic.
HUNT: I'm amazed you survived.
DESIREE: It is harsh, but it had its own beauty.
HUNT: Surviving difficult situations can give one perspective.
DESIREE: Yes. It reminds us what's important in life. Health, choice, love.
HUNT: Love. Mister Naz has something to say to you.
NAZ: Time to lower my defences as well.
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Medical program completed. All tissue and nerves regenerated.
(Naz gets off his hoverchair with a little difficulty, and steps over to Desiree.)
NAZ: Go. Follow your heart. You'll always have mine. You can leave your beloved Elba whenever you wish. You're free.
DESIREE: I always was free.

[House]

TYR: You and I after all we've been through, I would say we are the greatest of survivors.
DESIREE: And we will survive longest if no one knows.
TYR: No, we will survive longest if you and I make babies. We can live here, Medea. I don't care anymore.
DESIREE: And if Niobe our Matriarch were alive, she'd arrange it, but she is dead, just like every other Kodiak we've known, because every other Pride wants the Kodiak dead. And I no longer want to live my life on the run, not even with you, Tyr. I know how this must hurt you.
TYR: I will never call you Desiree d'Lene.
DESIREE: That's just a human name, something for the clients. I had to make my way.
TYR: You are Medea Cymri, out of Isabella by Zarathustra, and I will always want you in the way that I did from the first day I saw you playing outside your father's house. Our feet will tread these rocks. Our hands will work this ice.
DESIREE: Our eyes will search the night, and our heart will fly away.
TYR: Medea, please.
DESIREE: I am not waiting here alone for you. I choose no longer to wait for the future, for I am in my happiness.
TYR: But
DESIREE: Go.

[Planet surface]

(Fragments of the Attrox are burning up in the atmosphere and some are hitting the ground.)
TYR: The sky is falling.
