"Celestial digressions make great
first impressions.
I drown in your halo.
You orbit my soul."
Lyrics from
"Solar Flares Through My Heart"
CY 2891
[Tunnels]
BEKA:
Harper, if I knew you couldn't follow directions, I wouldn't have let
you hold the map.
HARPER: Relax. This is the door. I was just securing the perimeter, in
case we were followed.
DOYLE: We've secured it three times.
HARPER: You can never be too safe.
RHADE: Or too lost.
HARPER: We're here, aren't we?
BEKA: We're where? Where's the treasure?
HARPER: They were Vedrans, Beka, an advanced civilisation. They hid it.
RHADE: Sounds advanced, all right. Hiding things like little children
do.
DOYLE: And you're positive about this?
HARPER: Come on. Everybody knows about this. It's a legend. The curse
of the TCPA. Training Centre for Protectors of Avatars, right?
BEKA: It's a legend. Suddenly, it's crystal clear.
HARPER: You passed the tests, you became a Protector, you got a prize.
DOYLE: And if you didn't pass?
HARPER: You went stark raving mad.
BEKA: Hmm. I see you've already been inside.
HARPER: Very funny.
DOYLE: Let me see the map again.
RHADE: My guess is it doesn't take a genius to open a door. Just turn
the knob.
(The door does not open.)
RHADE: Huh.
(Then the door opens on its own.)
RHADE: After you, O Great One.
BEKA: Knock that off.
RHADE: What am I supposed to call you?
(The door shuts again before Harper and Doyle can go through.)
DOYLE: Looks like opportunity stopped knocking.
[Med
deck]
(Hunt
uses a fire extinguisher on a burning pot plant.)
HUNT: That's the fourth patient you've torched today, Trance.
ANDROMEDA [on screen]: Trance's flare-ups have been disrupting
electrical systems all over the ship.
TRANCE: Not everything is about you, Andromeda.
HUNT: That's fine, Andromeda. Thanks. Trance, you're working yourself
way too hard.
TRANCE: Well, I can't stop now. I can do so much more. If I brought us
here, I should be able to take us back.
HUNT: Yeah, but I don't think that's the way we want to go back.
TRANCE: It's more than controlling my powers, Dylan. It's knowing who I
was.
HUNT: You just have to give it time.
ANDROMEDA [on screen]: At Trance's present rate of memory recovery, I
estimate full restoration in eight point seven years.
TRANCE: Eight years?
ANDROMEDA [on screen]: Eight point seven.
HUNT: What does she know?
TRANCE: Something is calling me, Dylan, and I feel this need to fight
it. It is so frustrating. It's like I'm looking through a fog. I can
see something, and I can't quite make it out.
HUNT: Then don't fight it. Let go. Accept what has to be.
TRANCE: Dylan, I'm scared.
HUNT: I know. But I'll be right by your side, always.
TRANCE: Okay. Here goes. I can see something. Seefra Two. I'm on Seefra
Two.
(Trance gasps and vanishes.)
HUNT: Trance? Trance!
[Corridor]
HUNT:
Andromeda, prep a slipfighter, and see if you can find Trance on Seefra
Two.
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Aye, Captain.
[Outside
the circus]
(Trance
has appeared.)
HAWKER [OC]: Step right up for fun. Chance of a lifetime. Right before
your eyes. Who's looking for excitement?
[Tunnels]
(Harper
hits the map flexi against the rock wall.)
DOYLE: I thought you said that was a valuable artefact.
HARPER: More like an anti-fact. It keeps giving me riddles. Antique
flexis.
DOYLE: Okay, look, you keep playing with your little flexi thing. I'm
going to get us in here.
HARPER: Boss, I need help with a riddle.
[Seefra
Two]
HUNT:
Not now, Harper. I've got enough riddles of my own to answer.
HARPER [OC]: This is a good one.
HUNT: Pretty sure I can top it.
[Tunnels]
HARPER:
It's Vedran.
HUNT [OC]: Believe me
[Seefra
Two]
HUNT: I
still got you beat.
HARPER [OC]: Come on. Just a little help, please?
[Tunnels]
HARPER:
All right. What is always there, yet sometimes unseen?
HUNT [OC]: Er, your conscience?
HARPER: Ha, ha. No. Mean and incorrect.
[Seefra
Two]
HUNT:
All right, try a moon.
HARPER [OC]: No, it can't be a moon. Seefra doesn't have one.
HUNT: Yes, but Tarn Vedra did.
[Tunnels]
HARPER:
And Seefra used to be Tarn Vedra. Moon. Ha! Excellent. Thanks, boss.
[Seefra
Two]
HUNT:
Hey, Andromeda, get me an update on Trance's location.
ANDROMEDA [OC]: She is within a perimeter of one hundred metres.
HUNT: Could you be a little more precise?
[Chamber]
RHADE:
Harper strikes again.
BEKA: No kidding. Some treasure, and now we're trapped in an empty
room. Give me that.
(Beka takes the flashlight from Rhade. Gas is seeping in from
somewhere, making them cough.)
RHADE: Full of gas, just like Harper.
BEKA: I have never wanted to kill him more.
[Circus]
HAWKER
[OC]: Souvenirs. Souvenirs step right up for fun.
(Trance looks at the stall.)
TRANCE: This is beautiful. A ring.
WOMAN: A beautiful ring for the lady.
(Trance buys it.)
WOMAN: You're welcome.
[Seefra
Two]
HUNT:
Andromeda, where is she? I'm still looking.
DRUNK: Hey, brother. I'm broke and I'm dry and I sure could use a
drink, man.
HUNT: A bath wouldn't kill you either. Sorry, pal, but really can't
help you.
DRUNK: Well, I can't help you either, then.
(A man with a book bumps into the drunk.)
DRUNK: Well, if it isn't the puppet of the sun. You still babbling
about that book?
MAN: When the sun is restored, the truth shall be revealed.
DRUNK: Well, the way things are going with our suns, we'll all be dead
soon. So how about you buying me a drink, huh?
MAN: I'm sorry. I can't contribute to your weaknesses.
DRUNK: Hey, man, who you calling weak, huh?
HUNT: I think maybe you should start moving along, okay?
(The drunk sees Hunt's holstered forcelance.)
DRUNK: What are you going to do with your little stick?
HUNT: I don't know. Make it bigger?
(He extends a forcelance.)
DRUNK: Well, I'm definitely not going to help you now.
(The drunk leaves. Hunt puts the forcelance away.)
TIMMEO: It is you. The one I have been waiting for.
HUNT: Okay, you're scaring me just a little bit.
TIMMEO: I set off to find the Sun God, and have come upon the Bearer of
the Sun Staff. The sun shines down upon the righteous. This is a great
day indeed. I am Timmeo.
HUNT: I'm Dylan.
TIMMEO: Now that you have appeared, you will be able to return the
ailing sun to its former glory.
HUNT: That's excellent. And how would I do that?
TIMMEO: Here.
(Timmeo shows him the cover of his book. A man and a girl holding orbs,
and a man with a staff between them.)
HUNT: That's Trance.
TIMMEO: And you, with your Sun Staff. You must be reunited with the Sun
God. Together, you will restore the balance.
HUNT: Yeah, you know, it sounds like a really good plan, but, once
again, how would I do that?
(He sees Trance walking away.)
HUNT: There she is. Trance!
[Tunnels]
HARPER:
Okay, okay, give me a little time here. Got another idea. Just take me
a second.
(Doyle tries shooting at the door.)
HARPER: Everything is falling into
(Energy from her gun bounces back to Doyle.)
DOYLE: Argh!
HARPER: Place.
(Doyle is broken and smoking.)
[Chamber]
BEKA:
Ew. Hey, I hope we don't run into the spiders that made these.
RHADE: Or the rats that are chewing through this wall.
BEKA: What? I'm going to pretend that was your stomach that made that
growling noise.
(Rhade takes the flashlight and uses it on the wall.)
RHADE: That, that looks like Trance.
BEKA: Who's that guy with her? Trance gets lucky.
(I can't see anything on that wall.)
RHADE: They're both still glowing. Looks like he's too hot to handle.
BEKA: The hotter, the better, I think.
RHADE: Oh, you'd need an asbestos suit to handle him. He's an avatar.
BEKA: Well, maybe I could be his Protector. I mean, how hard could it
be to pass these tests, anyway?
(Rhade lights up a skeleton.)
RHADE: Why don't you ask Curly?
[Circus]
GERYON:
Come one, come all, and see the amazing Sun God. Do you seek riches,
power, love? Come and see what the future holds for you, if you dare.
TRANCE: The Sun God.
(A silver man, just as Trance is a golden woman.)
IONE: I am the amazing Sun God. Stay back and be amazed by my powers. I
am all-seeing, all-knowing. The essence of life itself. Behold!
(Sparks fly out of his sleeves. Then his eyes meet Trance's.)
TRANCE [OC]: Tell me my future.
IONE [OC]: It's your past I see most clearly. I feel myself within it.
TRANCE [OC]: Of course you do. You're mine.
(A miniature sun pops into existence in his hand. It flies around,
returns and he makes it vanish. Timmeo watches, and the Ringmistress
looks worried.)
TRANCE [OC]: Things are coming into focus.
[Seefra
Two]
HUNT:
Trance!
TRANCE: Dylan. I knew you'd find me.
HUNT: Thankfully in one piece. I wasn't so sure after your exit from
Andromeda.
TRANCE: I know, it surprised me too. But I know why it happened. Look.
(She shows him the ring.)
TRANCE: It's me. I'm everywhere. Isn't it wonderful?
HUNT: It certainly seems to agree with you.
TRANCE: I finally fit in. And I'm having memories and feelings that I
haven't had in a very long time. And I've met someone.
HUNT: You met someone?
TRANCE: Yeah, and I believe he's going to help me.
HUNT: Oh, be careful, Trance. Seefra's not known for its Space Scouts.
TRANCE: There are answers here. You were right. Letting go is something
I had to do. It's good advice.
HUNT: Yeah, but I also said I would always be by your side, remember?
So I'll just hang out here while you find your answers, and then we'll
head back
to Andromeda.
TRANCE: I don't think I'm coming back with you. I think that maybe you
are going to have to let go this time.
HUNT: Well, even if I should, I don't know if I can.
TRANCE: It'll be okay. Wish me luck.
HUNT: Good luck, Trance. I'm still sticking around, though.
[Tunnels]
(Harper
has removed Doyle's clothes so he can repair her.)
HARPER: Come on, Doyle, talk to me.
DOYLE: Incidence of squawk. Flux negative transient flux.
HARPER: Well, it's a start sort of. Try talking to me and making sense.
(Bang, smoke.)
HARPER: I hate when you do that.
DOYLE: Flux negative. Transient flux ion. Qua, qua, qua.
HARPER: Doyle, we've got to help Beka and Rhade, and we can't do that
if you don't cooperate, so start cooperating.
DOYLE: Omni pewter synch. Harper, you're a total screw-up. Paka, paka,
paka omni-p.
HARPER: One step forward, five steps back.
DOYLE: Transient.
[Chamber]
(Still
studying a blank wall.)
BEKA: None of these pictures are going to help us get out of here, and
yet we keep staring at them.
RHADE: I've been over every square inch of this room.
BEKA: I'm telling you, Rhade, there's no way out, and there's no way
in.
(More gas.)
RHADE: Ah, what the hell is this stuff?
BEKA: Disgusting.
RHADE: Oh. I can't think straight. This is crazy, Beka! We got in here
somehow. Where's the door? Where the hell is the door?
(It is right in front of him.)
BEKA: Oh, I see. I get it. First, I can't open the door by myself, and
now I can't even recognise one. Is that right?
RHADE: That's not what I'm saying.
BEKA: It's what you're not saying that's bugging me, Rhade.
RHADE: I will not talk about this now. I will address it at my
choosing.
BEKA: I love it when you play the tame Nietzschean. Hey, maybe you want
to curl up in a corner and suck on your bone blades.
(Rhade nearly hits Beka.)
RHADE: I can't touch you because the disgust within myself has brought
on total paralysis.
BEKA: I know. I can really understand that, now that I've met your
worthless Progenitor.
RHADE: Argh!
BEKA: Don't walk away from me. I have had it with you treating me like
a museum exhibit.
RHADE: Museum? You are the repository of the guilt of a lifetime.
[Circus]
GERYON:
Thanks so much for coming. You've been an excellent audience. Be sure
to catch the Sun God's final performance on Seefra Two.
IONE: Remember me.
TRANCE: Remember me?
IONE: In the stillness.
TRANCE: I asked you to tell me my future.
IONE: We never spoke, but through the deafening silence, I heard you.
TRANCE: And I heard you. You're trembling.
IONE: I, I just, I get burned out.
TRANCE: I know what you mean. Seeing the future used to do that to me
too. I just remembered that.
IONE: Why, you see the future?
TRANCE: Yes. Just like you, I am a Sun God.
GERYON: Wow. What are the odds?
TRANCE: Er, five hundred and twenty million to one?
GERYON: What else can you do?
TRANCE: That's it so far.
GERYON: Well, when I need a calculator, I'll call you. Sweetheart, you
should go and rest for tonight's performance.
IONE: It's nice to meet you.
TRANCE: Trance.
IONE: Gemini.
TRANCE: Yes, we've met before.
GERYON: You go on ahead. I'll be there soon. I just want to get to know
Trance Gemini a little better.
IONE: So would I.
TRANCE: You will.
(Ione leaves.)
GERYON: I don't know what your game is, honey, but you aren't the first
and you won't be the last groupie to catch his eye.
TRANCE: No, you're wrong. I was his first.
(Trance leaves. The Ringmistress sees Hunt pacing by the stalls.)
GERYON: Something seems to be troubling you.
HUNT: You don't say.
GERYON: I'm Geryon. Maybe I can help.
HUNT: You must not be from around here, Geryon.
GERYON: Why is that?
HUNT: Because nobody helps anybody on Seefra.
GERYON: Well, let's just say I'm feeling charitable.
(She puts a bag on money down.)
GERYON: Get your little friend Trance out of town, and there's another
one of those waiting for you.
HUNT: No, thanks. I er, already have enough bags.
GERYON: Your girl is after my Sun God. He belongs to me.
HUNT: Does he know that?
GERYON: Look, I got a good thing going here. I'm not hurting anybody,
so why don't you do yourself a favour and take the bearded lady back
where she came from?
HUNT: Your Sun God may be your meal ticket, but Trance calls her own
shots, okay?
GERYON: Are you sure we can't work out a deal? We could have such a
good time spending that money.
HUNT: Sure, but would we have to spend it together? Don't forget your
charity.
(Geryon leaves with her money.)
HUNT: Showtime.
[Seefra
Two]
TIMMEO:
Dylan Hunt, the time is here. You must meet with the Sun God. Restore
balance, or we will all be destroyed.
HUNT: Timmeo, I got to tell you, I don't have much faith in your Sun
God.
TIMMEO: I have enough faith for both of us. You will restore the
balance. It is written.
HUNT: That's one way to look at it.
TIMMEO: No. All answers lie within the book. I do not question it.
HUNT: Maybe it's time to start. I'm sorry, but I got to see a man about
a ring.
[Tunnels]
(Doyle
finishes getting dressed.)
HARPER: Okay. Count to ten. Aloud, Doyle.
DOYLE: One, two, ten.
HARPER: Not bad. So you won't be doing any calculations for a while. At
least you're on your feet, you're able to understand me.
DOYLE: Quan, qua, paka
HARPER: Don't. Don't start that again. Now, listen. You think you're
ready to try the door again? The handle, this time, without firing at
it?
DOYLE: Affirmative.
HARPER: Okay. Let's give her a try, then.
(Doyle walks to the door and starts banging her head against it.)
HARPER: No, no, no, no, no. No! No, no, no, no. Doyle, okay. Maybe we
better sit you down and try a few more adjustments.
[Chamber]
RHADE:
It's just a matter of time before the rats attack.
BEKA: There must be thousands of them.
RHADE: The proper way for me to go. Devoured by disease infested scum.
Too little and too many, just like my dreams.
(There is nothing there.)
BEKA: Does this seem kind of crazy to you, Rhade? Hey. Listen to me.
Obviously this is the test. I mean, nothing has really happened to us
here, has it? I say we fight through it. Concentrate.
RHADE: And I thought I wanted out of here bad before.
BEKA: Listen. Maybe this is about you and me. Huh? I mean, we're in
this together through some bizarre twist of fate. Maybe we just have to
accept it.
RHADE: I will never accept it. I would rather die, but I can't.
BEKA: Honest to God, Rhade, nothing's really changed. I'm still myself.
I'm still plain old Beka. Just not plain and not old.
RHADE: Who happens to be the female Progenitor of millions and millions
of Nietzscheans.
BEKA: You say that like it's my fault.
RHADE: It's not about fault! It's about reality. We were raised to
revere Drago Museveni, so I should revere you.
BEKA: Yeah, well, maybe a little reverence wouldn't hurt.
RHADE: You don't understand. If we get to the other universe, millions
of Nietzscheans will honour you. You!
BEKA: Yeah. Well, there's nothing we can do about that.
RHADE: Finally, we're going to die.
[Dressing
room]
TRANCE:
Why are you afraid of me?
IONE: I'm a Sun God. I'm not afraid of anything.
TRANCE: That's not true. You were afraid of asteroids.
IONE: What do you want from me?
TRANCE: I want to know what was between us. What is between us.
IONE: I don't even know who I am. How could I know you?
TRANCE: Maybe this will remind you.
(They touch lips, and a crescent appears in the sky.)
IONE: I do know you, Trance Gemini. You're a part of me I can't
explain.
TRANCE: Sometimes what has always been is seldom seen. The bond that
entwines us transcends space and time.
IONE: I wish I could see things as clearly as you.
TRANCE: Let go. The memories will come.
IONE: You make it sound so simple.
TRANCE: There's nothing to be afraid of. Within the memories lies our
love.
GERYON: Ione. Thank God I got here in time. Did you really think I
would let you hurt him?
TRANCE: Ione?
IONE: Geryon, I'm fine.
GERYON: You don't understand. She isn't who she said she is.
TRANCE: You're not human.
GERYON: No one cares what you think. Trance is using you to steal our
secrets for her lover.
TRANCE: My what?
IONE: What?
GERYON: Don't worry about it. I took care of him for you.
(Two thugs take Trance away.)
TRANCE: No.
IONE: Trance?
GERYON: I tried to warn you. No one wants you as much as I do.
[Tunnels]
HARPER:
Ah. There we go. Good as new. Back to your old self. Although it was
kind of nice having you immobilised.
DOYLE: Really?
HARPER: Gulp. Er.
[Chamber]
RHADE:
Why won't they attack? Why won't they end it?
BEKA: Because, Rhade, they're not real. When we walked into this room,
it was empty. No rats, no petroglyphs. The room is still empty.
Harper said we'd go crazy. That's what's happening.
RHADE: I'm tired.
[Dressing
room]
IONE:
What do you want of the Sun God?
HUNT: I want some answers.
IONE: Go buy a ticket.
HUNT: Yeah. I want some real answers.
IONE: Get out. No one calls me a fake.
HUNT: Well then, enlighten me. Where's Trance?
IONE: Oh, you must be Dylan. I though you were dead.
HUNT: Really? That's the first I've heard of it.
IONE: Well, I can make it the last.
(Hunt easily knocks him down.)
HUNT: Well, looks like it's sundown.
(Ione trips him.)
HUNT: All right, now I'm pissed.
(Hunt manages to land one blow.)
HUNT: All right, one more time. Where's Trance?
IONE: Why should I help you two destroy me?
HUNT: We are not the problem. Geryon is the one you have to worry
about.
(Geryon and her thugs walk in.)
HUNT: Here we go.
GERYON: I'm afraid we got off to a rough start, but just wait till you
see what I have in store for our future.
HUNT: Looks like a shotgun wedding to me.
[Circus]
(Hunt
and Trance are held in a forcefield.)
TRANCE: You are so much more than this.
HUNT: Trance, I don't think he's the answer here.
TRANCE: He's my answer. He needs me to believe in him as you have
believed in me.
HUNT: Fire away.
TRANCE: Don't fight your feelings. Remember who you've always been.
IONE: I can't be who you want me to be.
TRANCE: I loved you then. I love you now. Nothing has changed.
IONE: I can't remember.
TRANCE: Ione, if you can't remember, then all is lost.
HUNT: Ione?
(A moon hangs in the Seefran sky.)
[Tunnels]
DOYLE:
Admit it, Harper, you are a selfish little weasel. Your insatiable need
for monetary gain has put us all at risk.
(Harper tied up in a large sack.)
HARPER: Speaking of monetary gain, that's what the bag was for. Not me.
Doyle, remind me to lower your emotional output level.
DOYLE: What if I lower your oxygen intake level?
HARPER: Got it. Sorry. I'm sorry. Sorry I invited you.
DOYLE: You know, I just wanted you to know what it felt like to be
immobilised.
[Chamber]
RHADE: I
don't care.
BEKA: You have to care, Rhade. That's the point. That's the test, for
both of us. If we face it, we can get out of here.
RHADE: I know what's real.
BEKA: Then accept it. Rhade? Rhade, stand up. Now.
[Circus]
(Timmeo
is amongst the audience.)
GERYON: Intruders have come to steal your Sun God. I have stopped them,
and they are now my prisoners.
HUNT: Ione, what is always there, that's sometimes never seen?
IONE: The moon. Me.
HUNT: Perfect balance. The sun and the moon. Geryon has lied to you, my
friends. Ione is not a Sun God. He's a moon. He's the moon of Tarn
Vedra.
GERYON: Do not believe this monster! He is a liar, a fraud.
IONE: He's no fraud! You are.
(Ione lowers the forcefield.)
GERYON: You just made a big mistake.
HUNT: Come on.
(Geryon zaps Hunt and throws him across the area. Then she vanishes.)
HUNT: Excuse me.
TRANCE: Dylan, are you all right?
HUNT: Yeah, yeah. I think she likes me.
DRUNK: The moon! In the sky!
HUNT: Well, how about that?
(As the people leave, the drunk tries to take some gold ornaments.)
HUNT: You're just browsing, right?
DRUNK: You're really starting to get on my nerves.
HUNT: Yeah, sorry about that.
[Seefra
Two]
TIMMEO:
The sun and moon shine down upon us. The book was right, Dylan Hunt.
Perhaps it's time to ask some questions.
[Circus]
(Ione
hands Timmeo's book back to Hunt.)
IONE: I haven't seen one of these in a long time. It's a Vedran
training manual for Protectors.
HUNT: Protectors? So they were real after all.
TRANCE: They are as real as the avatars they protect.
IONE: Protectors are born, not made. Unfortunately, the Vedrans
wouldn't accept that, and tried to train their own.
TRANCE: It is a very special relationship. The avatars and the
Protectors will find each other.
IONE: The Vedrans learned this when most of the trainees couldn't make
it through the training centre.
HUNT: Training centre? Oh. Harper, it's Dylan.
[Tunnels]
DOYLE:
Sorry, Dylan. Harper can't come to the comm right now. He's a little
tied up.
[Circus]
DOYLE
[OC]: Because of him, Rhade and Beka might be trapped in a Vedran
training centre.
IONE: They're inside? They'll never survive.
HARPER [OC]: How come I only get the credit when it's bad?
[Tunnels]
HARPER:
You can let me out now.
DOYLE: Er, no.
[Circus]
TRANCE:
Dylan, the cycle has begun. If we don't get them out of there, they
will die.
(Trance and Ione vanish.)
HUNT: Thanks, Trance. I'll just get there the old-fashioned way.
Andromeda, give me a reading on Harper's location.
ANDROMEDA [OC]: Aye, Captain.
[Tunnels]
(Harper's
head is out of the sack. Ione and Trance are holding their hands out to
the door. The central boss is glowing.)
DOYLE: Are you watching this, Harper? It didn't do that when we touched
it.
HARPER: Yes, mistress.
HUNT: I'm not even going to ask. Thanks for the ride.
TRANCE: Are you ready?
HUNT: Hey, I was born ready.
(The boss is the head of the Sun Staff. She hands it to Hunt.)
TRANCE: And I was born in a supernova.
HUNT: Now, that's the old Trance talking. I hope this thing works.
(He places the staff in the ground. Trance conjures up a hologram of
the system. Overhead, through an opening in the tunnel ceiling, they
can see a big moon approaching.)
HUNT: Oh, great. Our problems just got bigger. That moon is headed
right for us.
(He tries adjusting the orbit of the sun in the hologram, but it keeps
bouncing back.)
HUNT: It's not working. The orbits won't separate.
TRANCE: We're upsetting the balance. We can't even open the door.
[Chamber]
BEKA:
I'll help you. Come on. Come on.
(Beka helps Rhade up off the floor.)
[Tunnels]
HUNT:
Ione, other side of the chamber. You two need to keep your distance.
[Chamber]
IONE:
I'm impressed you both survived. Dylan said you'd be up to the task.
RHADE: Dylan sent you?
IONE: I'm Ione, moon of Tarn Vedra.
BEKA: That's great. Can you get us out of here?
[Tunnels]
HUNT:
It's not working.
GERYON: This is my lucky day.
(Doyle steps forward.)
GERYON: You are so out of your league.
(Doyle gets zapped.)
HARPER: I just finished fixing her. Which I never tire of.
GERYON: Thanks to Trance, the moon ripped a hole in the system, and I
can finally get out of this dump. Of course, I'm taking both the
avatars with me. A matched set should start a nice bidding war.
HUNT: Ha. A bounty Hunter. You know, I think I preferred you better as
a cheap hustler.
GERYON: Oh, that hurt.
TRANCE: Dylan, I'm feeling a magnetic pull from her.
HUNT: That's funny, she's done nothing but repel me. Which is the
interesting thing about magnets.
TRANCE: Yes, they can repel and attract. Stand back and be amazed.
(Trance sends her own energy back along Geryon's zap line. Geryon
screams and disintegrates.)
HUNT: Good work, Trance. You really blew her away.
(The sun and moon have separated in the hologram.)
HUNT: Hey, it worked.
(The door opens. Ione, Beka and Rhade come out.)
HUNT: What?
BEKA: Don't ask. Harper. Harper.
(Harper finishes struggling out of the sack, and runs.)
HARPER: Got to go. Got to go!
(Chased by Beka, Rhade and Doyle.)
HUNT: Trance, you know that the balance can never be restored as long
as you two are together.
TRANCE: I found you. I have to let you go.
IONE: I won't let you go, Trance Gemini. You're the best part of me.
TRANCE: We must let go and accept what has to be.
(Ione and Trance nearly touch hands, then he vanishes.)
HUNT: Trance, I
TRANCE: Dylan, where I'm going, you can't follow me.
HUNT: And you can't stop me from missing you.
TRANCE: You often said that letting go is the first step.
HUNT: I know. It's the second step that I'm worried about.
TRANCE: Thank you.
(She gives Hunt the Sun ring, then vanishes.)
[Command]
ANDROMEDA
[on viewscreen]: The probability of Trance returning is three in six
million five hundred and thirty thousand.
HUNT: Well, those odds are better than our last ten scenarios.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Try any scenario. It is most probable she is
not coming back.
HUNT: And I thank you for your eternal optimism, Andromeda.
TRANCE: Ready for that second step?
HUNT: I thought you'd never ask. Old habits die hard, Trance. I was
worried about you.
TRANCE: Giving up Ione was more than I could bear, Dylan. I needed
time. And as I grew stronger and closer to the one that I've always
been, and the one I'm meant to be, I realised we have an eternity to be
together. But on this plane, right now, my place is with you. My
protector.
You have been warned about me, and it is too late. My sun is on its
way.
HUNT: Yeah, I know. And when it comes, we're going to meet it together.
TRANCE: Accept what has to be.
HUNT: You got it.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Probability of survival, one in seven
million eight thousand and fifty three.
HUNT: All right, things are finally starting to look up.
TRANCE: Now, that's how I see it.
HUNT: It's nice to have you back, Trance. So, let's talk about all of
those possible futures.
