How to jump the first gap in E4M2, PERFECT HATRED:

Remember that in Doom you can Run as well as Walk.
In PC Doom games, the default Run button is the Shift key.
(In the PlayStation Doom games, Run is typically assigned
to the Square button.)
Simply back up a few paces, then hold down Shift and press
the forward arrow to Run and jump across the gap.
