| 27 Προσελθόντες δέ τινες τῶν Σαδδουκαίων, οἱ ἀντιλέγοντες ἀνάστασιν μὴ εἶναι, ἐπηρώτησαν αὐτὸν 28 λέγοντες: διδάσκαλε, Μωϋσῆς ἔγραψεν ἡμῖν, ἐάν τινος ἀδελφὸς ἀποθάνῃ ἔχων γυναῖκα, καὶ οὗτος ἄτεκνος ᾖ, ἵνα λάβῃ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ τὴν γυναῖκα καὶ ἐξαναστήσῃ σπέρμα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ. 29 ἑπτὰ οὖν ἀδελφοὶ ἦσαν. καὶ ὁ πρῶτος λαβὼν γυναῖκα ἀπέθανεν ἄτεκνος: 30 καὶ ὁ δεύτερος 31 καὶ ὁ τρίτος ἔλαβεν αὐτήν, ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ οἱ ἑπτὰ οὐ κατέλιπον τέκνα καὶ ἀπέθανον. 32 ὕστερον καὶ ἡ γυνὴ ἀπέθανεν. 33 ἡ γυνὴ οὖν ἐν τῇ ἀναστάσει τίνος αὐτῶν γίνεται γυνή; οἱ γὰρ ἑπτὰ ἔσχον αὐτὴν γυναῖκα. 34 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς: οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου γαμοῦσιν καὶ γαμίσκονται, 35 οἱ δὲ καταξιωθέντες τοῦ αἰῶνος ἐκείνου τυχεῖν καὶ τῆς ἀναστάσεως τῆς ἐκ νεκρῶν οὔτε γαμοῦσιν οὔτε γαμίζονται: 36 οὐδὲ γὰρ ἀποθανεῖν ἔτι δύνανται, ἰσάγγελοι γάρ εἰσιν, καὶ υἱοί εἰσιν θεοῦ τῆς ἀναστάσεως υἱοὶ ὄντες. 37 ὅτι δὲ ἐγείρονται οἱ νεκροὶ, καὶ Μωϋσῆς ἐμήνυσεν ἐπὶ τῆς βάτου, ὡς λέγει κύριον τὸν θεὸν Ἀβραὰμ καὶ θεὸν Ἰσαὰκ καὶ θεὸν Ἰακώβ: 38 θεὸς δὲ οὐκ ἔστιν νεκρῶν ἀλλὰ ζώντων: πάντες γὰρ αὐτῷ ζῶσιν. 39 ἀποκριθέντες δέ τινες τῶν γραμματέων εἶπαν: διδάσκαλε, καλῶς εἶπας: 40 οὐκέτι γὰρ ἐτόλμων ἐπερωτᾶν αὐτὸν οὐδέν. |
27 Then he was approached with a question by some of the Sadducees, men who deny the resurrection; 28 Master, they said, Moses prescribed for us, If a man has a married brother who dies without issue, the surviving brother must marry the widow, and beget children in the dead brother’s name.[5] 29 There were seven brethren, the first of whom married a wife, and died without issue. 30 So the next took her, and also died without issue, 31 then the third, and so with all the seven; they left no children when they died, 32 and the woman herself died last of all. 33 And now, when the dead rise again, which of these will be her husband, since she was wife to all seven? 34 Jesus told them, The children of this world marry and are given in marriage; 35 but those who are found worthy to attain that other world, and resurrection from the dead, take neither wife nor husband; 36 mortal no longer, they will be as the angels in heaven are, children of God, now that the resurrection has given them birth. 37 But as for the dead rising again, Moses himself has told you of it in the passage about the burning bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.[6] 38 It is of living men, not of dead men, that he is the God; for him, all men are alive. 39 At this, some of the scribes answered, Master, thou hast spoken well; 40 no one dared to try him with further questions. |
27 Accesserunt autem quidam sadducæorum, qui negant esse resurrectionem, et interrogaverunt eum, 28 dicentes: Magister, Moyses scripsit nobis: Si frater alicujus mortuus fuerit habens uxorem, et hic sine liberis fuerit, ut accipiat eam frater ejus uxorem, et suscitet semen fratri suo. 29 Septem ergo fratres erant: et primus accepit uxorem, et mortuus est sine filiis. 30 Et sequens accepit illam, et ipse mortuus est sine filio. 31 Et tertius accepit illam. Similiter et omnes septem, et non reliquerunt semen, et mortui sunt. 32 Novissime omnium mortua est et mulier. 33 In resurrectione ergo, cujus eorum erit uxor? siquidem septem habuerunt eam uxorem. 34 Et ait illis Jesus: Filii hujus sæculi nubunt, et traduntur ad nuptias: 35 illi vero qui digni habebuntur sæculo illo, et resurrectione ex mortuis, neque nubent, neque ducent uxores: 36 neque enim ultra mori potuerunt: æquales enim angelis sunt, et filii sunt Dei, cum sint filii resurrectionis. 37 Quia vero resurgant mortui, et Moyses ostendit secus rubum, sicut dicit Dominum, Deum Abraham, et Deum Isaac, et Deum Jacob. 38 Deus autem non est mortuorum, sed vivorum: omnes enim vivunt ei. 39 Respondentes autem quidam scribarum, dixerunt ei: Magister, bene dixisti. 40 Et amplius non audebant eum quidquam interrogare. |
