| 18 ἦσαν δὲ οἱ υἱοὶ Νωε οἱ ἐξελθόντες ἐκ τῆς κιβωτοῦ Σημ Χαμ Ιαφεθ Χαμ ἦν πατὴρ Χανααν 19 τρεῖς οὗτοί εἰσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Νωε ἀπὸ τούτων διεσπάρησαν ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν 20 καὶ ἤρξατο Νωε ἄνθρωπος γεωργὸς γῆς καὶ ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα 21 καὶ ἔπιεν ἐκ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ ἐμεθύσθη καὶ ἐγυμνώθη ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ 22 καὶ εἶδεν Χαμ ὁ πατὴρ Χανααν τὴν γύμνωσιν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἀνήγγειλεν τοῖς δυσὶν ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ ἔξω 23 καὶ λαβόντες Σημ καὶ Ιαφεθ τὸ ἱμάτιον ἐπέθεντο ἐπὶ τὰ δύο νῶτα αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὀπισθοφανῶς καὶ συνεκάλυψαν τὴν γύμνωσιν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτῶν ὀπισθοφανές καὶ τὴν γύμνωσιν τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτῶν οὐκ εἶδον 24 ἐξένηψεν δὲ Νωε ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴνου καὶ ἔγνω ὅσα ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ νεώτερος 25 καὶ εἶπεν ἐπικατάρατος Χανααν παῖς οἰκέτης ἔσται τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ 26 καὶ εἶπεν εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὁ θεὸς τοῦ Σημ καὶ ἔσται Χανααν παῖς αὐτοῦ 27 πλατύναι ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ιαφεθ καὶ κατοικησάτω ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις τοῦ Σημ καὶ γενηθήτω Χανααν παῖς αὐτῶν 28 ἔζησεν δὲ Νωε μετὰ τὸν κατακλυσμὸν τριακόσια πεντήκοντα ἔτη 29 καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Νωε ἐννακόσια πεντήκοντα ἔτη καὶ ἀπέθανεν |
18 These, then, were the names of Noe’s three sons, who came out of the Ark with him, Sem, Cham and Japheth; and of these, Cham was the ancestor of Chanaan. 19 All three were Noe’s sons, and from them the race of mankind overspread the earth. 20 And now Noe turned farmer, and on the ground he tilled, he grew a vine. 21 So he came to drink wine, and, drunk with it, lay all naked in his tent. 22 And Cham, Chanaan’s ancestor, saw how his father’s body lay naked, and went out to tell his two brothers of it; 23 whereupon Sem and Japheth spread a cloak over their shoulders, and walked in backwards to cover their father’s nakedness, their faces turned away, so that they never caught sight of his naked body. 24 When Noe had slept off his wine, he found out how his younger son had treated him; 25 Cursed be Chanaan, he said, he shall be the slave and drudge of his brethren. 26 He said, too, Blessed be the Lord God of Sem; may Chanaan be a slave to him. 27 May God give Japheth dwelling-space,[2] and let him share the tents of Sem, but let Chanaan be his slave. 28 And Noe lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood, 29 so that his lifetime, when he came to die, had filled the measure of nine hundred and fifty years. |
18 Erant ergo filii Noë, qui egressi sunt de arca, Sem, Cham et Japheth: porro Cham ipse est pater Chanaan. 19 Tres isti filii sunt Noë: et ab his disseminatum est omne genus hominum super universam terram. 20 Cœpitque Noë vir agricola exercere terram, et plantavit vineam. 21 Bibensque vinum inebriatus est, et nudatus in tabernaculo suo. 22 Quod cum vidisset Cham, pater Chanaan, verenda scilicet patris sui esse nudata, nuntiavit duobus fratribus suis foras. 23 At vero Sem et Japheth pallium imposuerunt humeris suis, et incedentes retrorsum, operuerunt verenda patris sui: faciesque eorum aversæ erant, et patris virilia non viderunt. 24 Evigilans autem Noë ex vino, cum didicisset quæ fecerat ei filius suus minor, 25 ait:
Maledictus Chanaan,
servus servorum erit fratribus suis. 26 Dixitque:
Benedictus Dominus Deus Sem,
sit Chanaan servus ejus. 27
Dilatet Deus Japheth, et habitet in tabernaculis Sem,
sitque Chanaan servus ejus. 28 Vixit autem Noë post diluvium trecentis quinquaginta annis. 29 Et impleti sunt omnes dies ejus nongentorum quinquaginta annorum: et mortuus est. |
