| 7 ὅτι ἀνεμόφθορα ἔσπειραν καὶ ἡ καταστροφὴ αὐτῶν ἐκδέξεται αὐτά δράγμα οὐκ ἔχον ἰσχὺν τοῦ ποιῆσαι ἄλευρον ἐὰν δὲ καὶ ποιήσῃ ἀλλότριοι καταφάγονται αὐτό 8 κατεπόθη Ισραηλ νῦν ἐγένετο ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὡς σκεῦος ἄχρηστον 9 ὅτι αὐτοὶ ἀνέβησαν εἰς Ἀσσυρίους ἀνέθαλεν κα{Q'} ἑαυτὸν Εφραιμ δῶρα ἠγάπησαν 10 διὰ τοῦτο παραδοθήσονται ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν νῦν εἰσδέξομαι αὐτούς καὶ κοπάσουσιν μικρὸν τοῦ χρίειν βασιλέα καὶ ἄρχοντας |
7 Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind; empty stook is empty bin, and here if grain is any, alien folk shall have the eating of it! 8 Poor Israel, already engulfed, the heathen all around making a despised tool of him! 9 Lone as wild ass in the desert, to Assyria he betakes himself; if mate he would, he must pay for his dalliance. 10 Well, hire they mercenaries where they will, they shall be cooped up in their own land none the less, and have respite from the exactions of king and nobles both.[2] |
7 Quia ventum seminabunt, et turbinem metent: culmus stans non est in eo; germen non faciet farinam: quod etsi fecerit, alieni comedent eam. 8 Devoratus est Israël; nunc factus est in nationibus quasi vas immundum. 9 Quia ipsi ascenderunt ad Assur, onager solitarius sibi; Ephraim munera dederunt amatoribus. 10 Sed et cum mercede conduxerint nationes, nunc congregabo eos, et quiescent paulisper ab onere regis et principum. |
