| 10 καὶ ἀπῆραν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ καὶ παρενέβαλον ἐν Ωβωθ 11 καὶ ἐξάραντες ἐξ Ωβωθ παρενέβαλον ἐν Αχελγαι ἐκ τοῦ πέραν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Μωαβ κατὰ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου 12 ἐκεῖθεν ἀπῆραν καὶ παρενέβαλον εἰς φάραγγα Ζαρετ 13 καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἀπάραντες παρενέβαλον εἰς τὸ πέραν Αρνων ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τὸ ἐξέχον ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Αμορραίων ἔστιν γὰρ Αρνων ὅρια Μωαβ ἀνὰ μέσον Μωαβ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ Αμορραίου 14 διὰ τοῦτο λέγεται ἐν βιβλίῳ πόλεμος τοῦ κυρίου τὴν Ζωοβ ἐφλόγισεν καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους Αρνων 15 καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους κατέστησεν κατοικίσαι Ηρ καὶ πρόσκειται τοῖς ὁρίοις Μωαβ 16 καὶ ἐκεῖθεν τὸ φρέαρ τοῦτό ἐστιν τὸ φρέαρ ὃ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν συνάγαγε τὸν λαόν καὶ δώσω αὐτοῖς ὕδωρ πιεῖν 17 τότε ᾖσεν Ισραηλ τὸ ᾆσμα τοῦτο ἐπὶ τοῦ φρέατος ἐξάρχετε αὐτῷ 18 φρέαρ ὤρυξαν αὐτὸ ἄρχοντες ἐξελατόμησαν αὐτὸ βασιλεῖς ἐθνῶν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ κυριεῦσαι αὐτῶν καὶ ἀπὸ φρέατος εἰς Μανθαναιν 19 καὶ ἀπὸ Μανθαναιν εἰς Νααλιηλ καὶ ἀπὸ Νααλιηλ εἰς Βαμωθ 20 καὶ ἀπὸ Βαμωθ εἰς νάπην ἥ ἐστιν ἐν τῷ πεδίῳ Μωαβ ἀπὸ κορυφῆς τοῦ λελαξευμένου τὸ βλέπον κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς ἐρήμου |
10 After this the Israelites marched on, and encamped at Oboth, 11 and left Oboth to encamp at Jeabarim, in the desert that faces Moab on the east. 12 Their next march brought them to the valley of Zared; 13 and so they passed on to encamp by the Arnon, a desert stream which meets you at the Amorrhite border; it is the frontier of Moab, dividing Moab from the Amorrhites. 14 So it came to be written in the Book of the Lord’s Battles, What he did by the Red Sea, he will do again in the Valleys of Arnon; 15 among the mountain torrents that come down to rest in Ar, to flow peacefully through the lands of Moab. 16 It was at their next encampment that a well was shown to them; Gather the people together, the Lord had said to Moses, and I will provide water for them; 17 and it was here that Israel first sang the song called, Let the well spring up. They all sang together, 18 Here is the well that was dug by princes; the chieftains of the host laid it open with the staves they carried, with the giver of the law to lead them. So they left the wilderness, and reached Matthana; 19 after Matthana, Nahaliel, and after Nahaliel, Bamoth, 20 and after Bamoth, a valley in the Moabite country with mount Phasga at the head of it, looking out towards the desert. |
10 Profectique filii Israël castrametati sunt in Oboth. 11 Unde egressi fixere tentoria in Jeabarim, in solitudine quæ respicit Moab contra orientalem plagam. 12 Et inde moventes, venerunt ad torrentem Zared. 13 Quem relinquentes castrametati sunt contra Arnon, quæ est in deserto, et prominet in finibus Amorrhæi. Siquidem Arnon terminus est Moab, dividens Moabitas et Amorrhæos. 14 Unde dicitur in libro bellorum Domini:
Sicut fecit in mari Rubro,
sic faciet in torrentibus Arnon. 15
Scopuli torrentium inclinati sunt, ut requiescerent in Ar,
et recumberent in finibus Moabitarum. 16 Ex eo loco apparuit puteus, super quo locutus est Dominus ad Moysen: Congrega populum, et dabo ei aquam. 17 Tunc cecinit Israël carmen istud:
Ascendat puteus.

Puteus, quem foderunt principes
et paraverunt duces multitudinis
in datore legis, et in baculis suis.
